Precision drawn aluminium tubes made from seamless extruded material in coils!SWW aluminium rohr coil Bild1 136x200

 

Working with drawn aluminium tubes one had two choices:

 

  • Tubes in coils (or length), drawn from porthole extruded material and mainly limited to soft alloys like EN-AW3003 or EN-AW3103.
  • Tubes from seamless or mandrel extruded material and hard alloys but only available in length of up to 6-7m.

 

Standard-Metallwerke now offers a new product rang bringing together the best of both worlds: precision drawn aluminium tubes in coils made from seamless extruded material and available in hard alloys like e.g. EN-AW5049. In this combination coil weight up to 250kg are possible giving a tube length e.g. 2000-3000m for an 10x1mm tube size.

 

The new development combines a particular form in supply of pre-material with a special connecting technic to achieve a strong connection surviving the coiling, re-drawing, de-coiling and straightening on a conventional cutting machine. This connection is still open for gas to run through the whole coil thus allowing the necessary flush during an annealing process.

 

The connections can be easily detected in the cutting machine with the usual means like eddy current or laser detection.

The great advantage lies in the reduction of the cutting scrap by 10-20% depending on the range of cut length. Besides this usage it also delivers tube length of 100-300m of seamless aluminium tubes for applications in the chemical or gas processing industry.

 

The first production applications started in sizes from 8-12 mm OD. The next step will extend the range up to 16mm OD. Standard-Metallwerke started with EN-AW5049 as the widely used alloy for climate line in cars. In the same family of alloys coils can also be delivered in EN-AW5052 and EN-AW5754. Optional available are alloys of the 6000 series range like EN-AW6060, EN-AW6061 up to EN-AW6082. On the soft alloy side EN-AW3003/3103 are planned. The aluminium tubes fulfil the ISO standards: EN573-3, 754-2 and 754-7 plus the ASTM B210 and ASTMB241 norm.

Successful renewal of DIN EN ISO 16949 and DIN EN ISO 9001 certification.

Successful certification according to DIN EN ISO 50001 and DIN EN ISO 14001

In February 2014 Standard-Metallwerke completed successfully the certification according to DIN EN ISO 50001 and DIN EN ISO 14001. The environmental certification according to DIN EN ISO 14001 was completed for the 6th time has it's place in the company calender since 1998.

 

The first-time certification according to DIN EN ISO 50001 was a logical step in the development of the company. The related audit verified the successful introduction and maintenance of a systematic energy management . As a first step it captures the energy flows (energy sources, energy use , energy consumers) and allows afterwards the evaluation of the energy efficiency and  energy consumption of equipment, facilities and processes. With this evaluation Standard-Metallwerke has a sound basis  for the implementation of both technical and organizational measures to improve energy efficiency and energy-related performance in a systematic way with a long-term vision.
